Labor Day Barbecue

Come join us on Labor Day (9/1/08) for our annual barbecue kick-off event. It's a perfect opportunity for new students to make their first visit, and for old friends to re-connect. We gather from around 4 in the afternoon, and include music (CDs, MP3s, and of course, our open mic!), food, and great conversations! We try to cater to all tastes, including vegan and vegetarian offerings, as well as the traditional barbecue fare of chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs. All our events are held at the Campus Ministry house, just off-campus at 51 Blake Street! See ya!

Book Study 1: In time for the Election!
Jim Wallis, the author of the NY Times Bestseller: God's Politics, Why the Right Gets it Wrong, and the Left Doesn't Get It!, has provided us a study guide for examining this important new work on faith, spirituality, and the political and public world. This is a really important time in our country and in our world, and people are going to have to learn about each other and learn how to get along! Join us in this weekly study. Call or email, since there may be several time slots available. We are planning a Thursday evening and Wednesday daytime group so far. This book just came out in paperback, making it really affordable, and we can always help if cost is an issue. Call x82403 or email pcullity@keene.edu

Book Study 2: Simply Christian
Having the experience of teaching this book to a large group of adults at a local church this past Lent, I'm now ready to give it a go, here on Campus. This is the first book since Mere Christianity that can be used to introduce the Christian Faith for any one. It doesn't matter whether you're Catholic or Protestant, Agnostic or just curious, this book addresses our faith from a completely non-sectarian basis. Please call if you'd like to be in a study group this fall: 358-2403 (pcullity@keene.edu)

Hunger and Homelessness Week

Each November, KSC observes Hunger and Homelessness Week. We are actively a part of the observance, with several events planned.  On Sunday, November 2nd we kick off our activities with the Annual CropWalk, a fundraiser for world hunger relief. There will be more info about this as we get closer, but you can go to the website at cws.org for more info right away! We also hope to hold a U2charist, and if you don't know what that is, then you need to call us and ask! No, really, it's a Eucharist (Communion) Service that features the music and poetry of the band U2. We focus on the Millenium Development Goals in this liturgy, which are hugely important standards for halving World Poverty in the near future. Later in November we travel to Boston to take part in the Common Cathedral experience! Call or email for more info!
